Port is most commonly enjoyed as a dessert wine because it is rich and sweet. | Taste: Aromas of cherry and violets are followed by red fruit flavors of strawberries, plums and red cherries. I recommend this product

Kit arrived promptly with no shipment issues. Prepared following directions but took my time, four weeks from starting to stabilizing. Used all of the F pack, fortified with a spiced rum (local) and a partial bottle of whiskey. Oaked heavily. Racked twice prior to bottling. Very tasty when finished and bottled. Fortifying port, to me, is important. Use something good with a flavor profile to add to your drinking pleasure. My product came out with a spicy note, not too sweet. Close to best I’ve ever made. Side note - my wife’s favorite was when we fortified some ice style wine made as a port with peppermint schnapps and chocolate liqueur.

      Port style wine

Two issues noted. The kit was supposed to include oak chips but these were not in the package. Was able to pick some up at a local wine store. As well, there was some leakage of the juice in the package, enough to stain the inside of this box. No indications of premature fermentation starting, may have been caused by the pressure differential the package would have experienced during transportation. Will need to wait for the fermentation process to be completed to assess further.
